This is the sequel to the critically acclaimed and bestselling strategy game: Age of Empires. Age of Empires II challenges you to build a civilisation into a mighty empire and allows you to achieve victory in different ways. Whether it is through combat, or economic domination, or by building and protecting a wonder of the world. The game spans 1,000 years, from the fall of Rome through the Middle Ages, in which players control the destiny of one of thirteen civilizations.

The game interface is well designed and all functions can be accessed by a pointing device (like a mouse, headpointer, etc.) You can use the keyboard to access lots of configurable keyboard shortcuts for commonly used commands. Despite the keyboard shortcuts the game cannot be played by the keyboard only as it relies on the mouse pointer to select and place objects. You can play most of the game with the pointer, with keyboard entry only needed for saving games and once for entering the player's name.

By default, you use both left and right click in the game but there is an option to use the left click only. The ability to hold down, drag and release the pointer button is required often in the game to select groups of people, objects and buildings.

There is an option to alter the speed of the game from normal to slow or fast.

Rating: 4/5Little demand placed on your computer
The game has low system requirements, which means it does not require much from your computer, but still appears high quality. Just make sure that if you're using Windows XP that it's the Home Edition. I tried it with Windows XP Pro and neither Microsoft nor I were able to get it to work with XP Pro!

Rating: 5/5The game has lots of keyboard shortcuts that could be accessed with simple voice commands.
Voice commands could also be used instead of switches and mouse buttons to select options. For example, saying "Click" for a left mouse button, "Right Click" for a right mouse button and "Drag" for holding down the left pointer button. Voice recognition programs like Shoot! or Game Commander can do this.

Rating: 5/5One click option fab
The one click option in the game is really useful especially for one switch users.
